Biography
Kasper Eistrup (b. 1973)is a Danish visual artist, working primarily with painting and drawing as well as installation art. Eistrup’s work largely adheres to a formula that delicately counterposes elements of order and chaos. Each work consists of different methods and materials as well as of fields of separate and distinct visual expressions, that ranges from meticulous depictions of people or objects to pure, emotional abstraction. In his drawings, the paper is often left partially exposed and stands as an independent expression, through which different structures, textures and shades of color add a deeply aesthetic and characterful dimension to his work. Similarly, the sound and light of Eistrup’s installation work evokes a sense of solemnity, while underlining Eistrup’s anachronistic attitude to his visual repertoire. Hence, these components deliberately interact with each other, not as a linear progression, but rather like a rhizomatic entity. Biography In 2018, Kasper Eistrup was commissioned to paint a portrait of HRH The Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (now HM King Frederik X), which was revealed at the opening of the artist’s solo exhibition Fragmentarium at The National Portrait Gallery at Frederiksborg Castle. Since then, notable solo exhibitions include Det halve menneske på Kastrupgaardsamlingen and the group show Kunstnerkolonien at Nivaagaards Malerisamling (2025)
